Personal:

Der Hammer is a nick name I picked up from my German friends while living in Germany. My real name is David.

I have been running seriously since March 2007.  I started with a local running group called "Gilbert's Gazelles".  Before that I had run a couple 5k's (26:00's) and never run more than 3 miles at one time.  I have lost about 40 pounds in a little over 2 years.

I am 45 years old, married and have 2 children, ages 5, girl, and 10, boy.  I try to keep my running from interfering with my family as much as possible, e.g. getting up at 5 am.  However, Saturdays are long run days and I don't come home until around 9 am or so.  I owe my family a debt of gratitude for allowing me to pursue this passion.

I didn't check the temp when I left the house but when I got back in it was 66 - 70% humidity I think.

Anyway - it was cool enough to make a big differnece compared to previous runs.

I dug out my Addidas Boost shoes - I haven't worn them in a while.  I forgot what great energy return these things have.  I may actually run the marathon in these.

3 miles easy then 9 @ MGP with a bit of cool down.

9 miles in 1:01@ 6:48 AP.

.25 easy back to the house at the end of the run.

I am really digging your MGP plan (Is that the right name?). Great run today!

Hey Tom - thanks, I am following the Hanson's plan though modifying it a bit with more overall weekly mileage and I will probably stretch some long runs out to 18 miles. Stretching out scheduled MGP runs as well, the schedule for today had 7 but instead of running 2 easy at the end I kept going. :-)

DH, What are your upcoming races? marathon? half (Austin)?

How many miles does the Hanson's plan have you running each week? I'm still stuck on the RLRF training but trying to add some base miles to that plan.

Nice going on the mp miles... I'm dreading my first attempt

With a name like "ENERGY BOOST", there's no reason why you shouldn't wear them for a marathon. Great run btw.

Great run MP David! Looking like with some good weather in Sacramento may come a 2:xx! I wish I would have registered for that one before it closed, it is on my Bucket list as I have a sister in Sacramento!

Thanks, JG. I don't know when your last marathon was run, but you can still get in. Registration starts on October 1.

Thanks for the info David, that is a great policy they have allowing faster runners! I re-qualified at Boston for Boston this year, so it appears I would be guaranteed entry! Would do it in a heartbeat as that is good timing/course to improve my Boston seeding ... unfortunately I do not have the $600 registration/airfare would cost me ... which is a bummer because my sister would host me & feed me! :)
